We rent houses in Gerês because this is where guests actually want to spend the day: river water, shade, and a short drive back to a private pool. Casa de Fundões sits in that landscape already. The new house, opening in August, looks over the Caniçada reservoir.
We would not send you to the other side of the park for a ‘must-see’ that eats the afternoon. The useful Gerês is the one you can reach from the house, still in time for a swim before dinner.

The reservoir and river beaches are the reason many families pick Gerês in summer. From Casa de Fundões they are a short drive, not a day trip.

Pedra Bela and Junceda are the viewpoints we mention most. Save the long hikes for cooler hours; the houses are built for coming back.
Gerês village and the thermal spa
The village, the Parque das Termas and Ermida are close enough for a slower morning — coffee, a short wander, then back to the pool.
